Heroines of Legend: Fictional Universes - Introduction

New challenge for my New Year's Resolution that I've cooking up inside my head for quite some time now:

I have decided that, for the next 35 days, I will be posting trading card-like character bios of 35 famous fictional heroines, old and new, each from different franchises: from film, television, books, graphic novels, and others. They will be brief, a little informative and educational, and all about feminism in fiction. At least these women will be reflective of what I consider to be positively feminist.

I want to do this because I strongly believe that representation matters in our media, and highlighting the best female representation said media has to offer helps us give a critical analysis of how women should be represented - as people. Real, fully-rounded, complex, interesting and exciting people. People with their own sets of strengths and weaknesses. Some suggestions of improvements on a heroine's character may also follow.

In fiction, in fantasy, the imagination is limitless, and women are not hard to write. Period. Femininity is not inferior. These 35 powerful women show that. They may not be real, but their personalities, their values, can be - for all the girls in the world who see or read about them, and look up to them.

Let's get started in proving the strength - in love, hope, bravery, resilience, persistence, intelligence, compassion, kindness, and care - of girl power!
