Ready Player One Read-Through: Chapter 7

This will be a short one, as nothing much of note happens, and I'm still reeling from the previous chapter.

Not a lot to say, other than Wade is extremely lucky that the virtual gate to the virtual Copper Key is in Ludus, where he is currently "stuck" because he hasn't enough money to go anywhere else in the OASIS. His education is only relevant to him if it helps him find the egg, it appears. He uses maps to find the location.

More infodump. Wade had tried to kill animals for bonus points in the OASIS. Like in a video game, but come on! That's just cruel. Poor virtual things!

And the rest of the chapter - and the next one - reads like someone playing a video game level. A D&D computer platform game, to be exact. In book form.

Wade enters the Tomb of Horrors, fully armoured, sword and shield in hand, taken from his inventory in his school locker. I didn't know that any public school systems - virtual or not - allowed that, but whatever.

So the plot is progressing at last. Let's see if it'll be any fun to read, and not like watching someone playing video games as opposed to playing them yourself...
