Graphic Novel Review - 'Jem and the Holograms: Book One' by Kelly Thompson (Writer), Sophie Campbell (Artist), Various Artists and Letterers

Contains the first two volumes of Kelly Thompson's 'Jem and the Holograms' comics (I am a bit disappointed that it doesn't include the third volume as well, like I'd initially thought, but oh well), plus some specials and B-side content at the end; including a never-before-read story about a love potion from a fortune teller (seriously, WTF is that? And like a lot of the side stories - and later on in the main series, in fact - it suffers from the absence of Synergy!).

But regardless, what a fun, funny, colourful, creative, fashionable, loud, musical, femme, inclusive, and outrageous collection of comics. It takes me right back to reading the 2015 IDW/BOOM!Box 'Jem and the Holograms' reboot comics all over again. Now that has become as nostalgic as the eighties cartoon! And I don't care if anyone disagrees.

A wonderful blast from the past. That's also a modern magical girl series from the West!

For everything about the precious 'Jem' reboot, from moi, read:

'Jem and the Holograms, Vol. 1: Showtime'

Final Score: 3.5/5
