Non-Fiction Book Review - 'The Modern Witchcraft Spell Book: Your Complete Guide to Crafting and Casting Spells' by Skye Alexander

2023 EDIT: Part of my 2023 clear-up, of books I no longer like, or am no longer interested in, or remember well as standing out, or find as special anymore, or I otherwise will not miss.

Final Score: 3.5/5

Original Review:

A good contemporary spell book. Really, I was originally only attracted to the ridiculously pretty cover. Now that's what I call spellbinding! But the inside contains useful tips to improve your lifestyle and health, and bolster your self-confidence. Witch or not, or whether you identify and describe yourself as a witch in whichever sense, being a woman is a powerful, precious privilege.

'The Modern Witchcraft Spell Book: Your Complete Guide to Crafting and Casting Spells' is very basic, not especially deep or new for experienced witches and Wiccans (though it does skip over the history of witchcraft and "magick" and gets right down to the practicals). It also contains love spells, which is highly morally dubious for a modern text, even though the author assures readers that none of the spells in the book impinge on free will. And there's a spell on how to lose weight which borders on fat shaming.

But for a young beginner, 'The Modern Witchcraft Spell Book' can be an assuring life changer.

A cute, serene, spiritual, fun, okay read.

Final Score: 3.5/5
