Simply adorable.
There's nothing else for me to say, is there?
Well, unlike in my everyday life, when it comes to writing I can never shut up, so I will say stuff, voice my opinions, anyway:
'Goldilocks in Space (Futuristic Fairy Tales)' is a picture book about planets, spaceships, and a 'There's no place like home' message (more like 'There no space like home', right?); all within the framework of a fairy tale.
Goldilocks is an astronaut, and the three bears are her family on earth, and she has a dog companion who is oddly never mentioned in the text. What planet will she find which is just right for her? Will she have enough porridge for her journey?
There's rhyming, and all kinds of fun and silliness. Apparently the book's earth is set in a fairy tale land, too.
Fairy tales and science fiction, the best combo!
'Goldilocks in Space (Futuristic Fairy Tales)' comes highly recommended to children, and girls into STEM. It is like 'Interstellar Cinderella', 'Reading Beauty', and 'Stardust'. It also reminds me of Laini Taylor's children's graphic novel, 'Billie Blaster and the Robot Army from Outer Space'. Heh.
It is not perfect, but for what it is and what it sets out to do - shoots for the stars and planets to achieve - this bowl of charming, intergalactic porridge is just right.
Final Score: 4/5
