Book Review - 'The Mighty Thor: Goddess of Thunder! (Little Golden Book) (Marvel)' by Courtney Carbone (Writer), Hollie Mengert (Illustrator)

A really cute little children's book that introduces the Mighty Thor/Jane Foster! The moment I saw it on Amazon, I knew I had to have it. Look at the cover!

I like that it spotlights Jane as the wonderful character she is - as a human, a mortal, a doctor (initially a nurse) and a humanitarian; all the ways that she is super, and not just as a superhero. And goddess.

'The Mighty Thor: Goddess of Thunder!' downplays Jane's relationship with Thor Odinson whilst making it clear that they are important to each other. There's no overt romance here, as it is about Jane as her own person and hero in her own right. It also mentions her illness - of course not saying the C-word - and further highlights her strength, bravery, and awesomeness.

I'm all for superheroines on a galactic and Asgardian scale! Who are simultaneously very grounded and down-to-earth. 'Goddess of Thunder!' is a dazzling and sparkling little picture book for kids, before they are old enough to watch 'Thor: Love and Thunder', perhaps.

It's Jane Foster for beginners. For Marvel fans who love and appreciate female characters. Thank you, Courtney Carbone and Hollie Mengert!

Final Score: 4/5
